The SecondAdolescence Workshops are built on 3 creative principles:

1) In our art form, the learning is by doing. We're not at school anymore! Reading is great, talking is great, watching is great, but doing, making, rehearsing, actioning our ideas is where the best theatre stuff takes place. The workshops are practical, hands on and director-driven, focused on learning by being part of a creative process.

2) We learn with community: the workshops are designed to hold the important balance between clear direction and facilitation, with the importance of peer-to-peer learning. The workshops are aimed to build a community of artists, that goes beyond the development that takes place in the room. By being part of a workshop you join a growing community of theatre artist, actors, directors, performer-makers and more, that you can connect with, stay in touch with and grow your creative practices with.

3) Everyone is welcome! Artistic practice is at its best when it is an open, inclusive, and welcoming space, championing the diversity of humans and human experiences that come with us. We are rigorous and unrelenting in our artistic pursuit, and everyone is invited for the ride.

A 3-Day Intensive workshop with director Sammy J Glover (★★★★★ Guardian, ★★★★★ North West End)This workshop goes beyond the drop in class, and takes time to look more deeply at the actors craft across 3 days of rehearsals. The workshop will look at the relationship between the actor and director, and equip participants with the hands on experience of the practical obstacles of a rehearsal process. We will look at:

- The Role of the Actor in R&D: developing work before a rehearsal process

- The Audition: confidence, clarity & conversation with your director

- Text and Improv: scene work and rehearsal

- Character work: an in depth study

- The Director-Actor relationship in rehearsals and performance

This workshop is suitable for actors of all abilities, and is an inclusive space. We  are open to all people, of all ages, and we welcome global majority artists, trans and queer artists, and d/deaf and disabled artists.

There is a limited number of spaces to ensure that the rehearsal room is small and focused. Places are booked on a first come first serve basis, so book quickly to avoid disappointment!

One solidarity place is reserved for this workshop free of charge. There is no particular qualifying term for this and we don't need any proof. Just email in, and the space is yours. This works on a trust basis, as we believe that a world with more opportunities to learn and grow, is a world we'd like to live in.

To book your place please email weare.secondadolescence@gmail.com, with a little information about yourself and why you'd like to be part of the workshop.
